Janine Lin and Sonia Sun Promoted to Partners at Innovatus Law Firm

Innovatus Law is pleased to announce the appointment of two new partners, effective from January 1, 2024.

Janine Lin, Esq. (Resume):
Janine Lin joined our firm in 2015 and, with our support, obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree with a focus on corporate governance from Stanford University in 2020. Her clients span across various industries, including energy, entertainment, and medical equipment. She has provided legal counsel to multinational conglomerates on major public construction litigation in Taiwan and ongoing engineering projects and has represented prominent domestic power plants in tax administrative litigation. Janine has also assisted international private equity funds in handling equity transaction disputes related to their investments in renewable energy projects in Taiwan. Furthermore, she has aided a U.S.-based entertainment company in structuring its investment transactions in Taiwan and represented a local medical equipment manufacturer in its initial public offering.

Senior Counsel  Sonia Sun, Esq.  (Resume):
Sonia Sun, who joined our firm in 2023 as a senior consultant, brings a wealth of experience to the table. She has held senior legal positions at Taiwan’s top five technology-listed companies and within the domestic financial industry. With over 15 years of legal practice in the U.S. and Taiwan, including nearly nine years in the legal and tax departments of the “Big Four” accounting firms, Sonia is well-versed in legal compliance risks and corporate transformation issues arising from new technology and cross-disciplinary integration. Sonia has in-depth knowledge of fundraising, investments, and exit strategies for private equity funds and venture capital, as well as drafting, reviewing, and negotiating investment documents for general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs), mainly institutional investors. In the startup ecosystem, Sonia has been highly active, assisting dozens of high-quality startups and growth-stage enterprises in various capital-raising transactions, including founder financing, angel investments, accelerator/venture capital/strategic partner financing, employee stock options, equity swaps, and pre-IPO financial financing. She also provides negotiation strategy planning and specialized financial and tax law integration consulting.
